Mullet Mad Jack
Gun glitch?
Hi, I had the lvl 3 shotgun before going into the sniper boss fight, and after my memory was rest, the game gave me a lvl 1 pistol again. It seemed normal to me, but after defeating the ninja boss at level 50 I received my level 3 shotgun again. Is this intended? I usually play with pistol so I haven't noticed this before. Thanks.

Yeah that's always how it works. The sniper boss fight resets you to the pistol but, oddly, the ninja boss fight (that shows you holding the pistol) does not reset you after beating it.

Not sure if it's a glitch or intentional but I personally prefer that it works this way tbh. I like that in Permadeath runs there's this one moment where you get sent back to the pistol when previously you were breezing through with the shotgun, it's a fun little challenge. It happens at the perfect moment because chapter 4 is a little hard but not too hard, if you got sent back to the pistol after the ninja fight it would actually make the next chapter quite annoying in Permadeath runs.

hard pro tip: use the shotgun. when you shoot an enemy you're almost always going to explode them unless they are pretty far away or you only hit them with some of your pellets. this means that you can get time added to your life (I think it's just a basic +1 second?) with basic non-headshot, non-environmental kills. you can also get the upgrade that gives an extra second for explosive kills, making the game ezmode. shotgun also allows you to play faster than any other weapon because you don't need to aim well to get one-shot-kills. (tip for the tip: ricochet is the most important upgrade to get for the shotgun, with 2 or 3 ricochet upgrades you never have to aim again. just keep firing towards the next room and you'll kill almost all enemies before you even see them.)

permadeath pro tip: wait for the next update. devs have confirmed in the next update they are going to make permadeath runs much faster because right now permadeath takes FOREVER. after you kill a boss it takes what feels like a full two minutes to actually get to the elevator on every floor, then you have to go thru the tutorial level which takes way too long. and eventually after the sniper fight you end up waiting around for what feels like ten minutes to get to the next chapter, it makes permadeath mode really not fun. Permadeath mode will be a ton of fun for me once they make it so you don't spend so much time waiting to get to the killing (not sure what exactly they're going to allow you to skip in order to make it faster but I hope it's almost all the time spent not killing baddies).

EDIT: NOT

bonus permadeath tip: use the shotgun lol, it's the easiest and strongest weapon by a lot imo (you might think it's bad for the final boss but it's not, use the level 3 overload ability to get a 4x shot and watch how much damage you do despite the boss being quite far away. it's crazy.) Fair warning though: once you get used to using the shotgun on hard and insane mode you'll start playing very fast, this makes it very possible for you to die without even realizing what's going on. I've had so many stupid deaths on permadeath mode.

Cheers for the tip mate. Hehe shotgun it'll be then. I used it for a bit on challenge and went back to the handgun because it killed too quick. I'll wait for the update with perma then having to wait and get out of the flow constantly sounds annoying.
It's deffo alot easier. I used to try it on a new game, but just started on a completed save and even with the lvl3 handgun its kind of a breeze. Gonna do insane next.
