Please recommend Movies in Game setting

I really like the game's setting, and want to look into movies from related era. Any suggestions? Which ones inspired the game the most?

"Bubblegum Crisis" is my go to from this era, "Akira" is also Fantastic if you're looking for a good movie. if you want some raunchy ♥♥♥♥ check out wicked city.

I agree though you could have just said anything that Kenichi Sonoda did character design for would get you half the list and Koichi Ohata or Yoshiaki Kawajiri has a hand in doesn't hurt :)

While it's a bit later, Cowboy Bebop has a lot of similar aesthetics and energy. It still draws from the 90's era and was written around then anyway. Same with Trigun and Outlaw Star.

Since most of the obvious ones were already posted here (Even Kung Fury, to my surprise), I'll throw an oddball and say "Mezzo Forte" (The 2 anime ovas, not the anime series that came out afterward which was kinda bad). Cyberpunk setting, short and to the point, and fantastic animation.

Do keep in mind that Mezzo Forte is technically hentai, but it only had sex scenes shoved into the movies in order to get enough funding to actually make the ovas to begin with (It's something that happened with a lot of anime and games during the 90s), so it's more of an anime movie with sex scenes (Much like many American action movies back then) than a hentai movie

Nah. Has a decent amount of sex and nudity but very much a horror movie with gratuitous aspects. Urotsukidoji it is not.
