Is Level 2 Shotgun + Ricochet the best build?
Now that Endless allows you to skip shops and prevent yourself from losing perks you can realistically create the exact build you want. Here's what I do:
  • Level 2 Shotgun
  • 3x Ricochet
  • 2x Speed Boost
  • 1x Pierce
  • Grapple
  • Laser Jammer
  • the one that gives an extra second for explosive kills
I am pretty sure that Level 2 shotgun shoots the same amount of pellets and does the same damage as the level 3 shotgun does without loading extra rounds, but it shoots noticeably faster. The overloading ability is a neat idea but in any instance you could load extra rounds you could also just be spamming and firing pellets that bounce around corners killing everything in front of you.

The +1 second on explosive kills could be removed for the slow-mo jacket or an extra Speed Boost. Pierce could maybe be swapped out. Barricade is fun but having Grapple and holding onto it so you have two free full heals every level is better I think.

This build allows you to always be moving through the level at top speed because everything that's in your way dies before it can interrupt your slide and force you into slowing down with a kick.

Devs, imo the only nerf this needs is to make it harder to explode enemies with the shotgun. Using the shotgun makes Hard mode super easy because you can body shot enemies and still get time very easily. I see the red "0 SECONDS" pop up but I'm still getting time back, not sure if this is from the combo or the explosive kills though. I also think what's happening might be enemies that don't get exploded by the shotgun get knocked back, then if they go into a grinder, electric wall or a door it gives you an environmental bonus?
