I had the Windows compatibility mode set on Windows 7. I switched off and it works.
Or were can disable that.
Please Help!.. and thanks in advance...
Change your resolution to min (640x480)... this works for me...

I can confirm that it fixed my problem with the runtime error. I've even played through "the L" level which seems to be notorious for crashing.
