F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point

F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point

FEAR, FEAR Extraction Point, and FEAR Perseus Mandate no longer start
Today is October 6th. These three FEAR games no longer start. I literally played FEAR Extraction on October 5th leading into October 6th.

Now, when I try to start it, it formats my computer screen (as it always did), and then goes black with a blue loading circle as the mouse. It stays like this and never loads. I tried launching it, left my house to get some stuff, came back, and it was still on the same screen.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Extraction Point about 3 times and it the same thing always happens. I am clueless on what to do now. If anyone can provide any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm not a big computer person so I would need an ELI5 (Explain like i'm 5) reply.

Hello,

I also installed all F.E.A.R games 2 days ago and they work fine after tweaking a few things. You can find everything here

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/F.E.A.R.#

If you're on W10 you could try this

"Set game's compatibility mode to Windows XP (Service Pack 2). If it doesn't help try "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" also. RMB on FEAR.exe => Properties => Compatability => Disable fullscreen optimizations"

its okay. I dont understand how to set the game compatibility mode to Windows XP. Or how to display scaling on high DPI settings. or the RMB. All I know how to do is install and uninstall.

Right-click on an app and select Properties. ...
Select the Compatibility tab, then check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Select the version of Windows to use for your app's settings in the dropdown box.

If you dont know how something works, you can use the internet, thats what its for. Hope this fix works for you.

Okay, where are you seeing the Compatibility tab? All I get is General, Updates, and Local Files.

You go into the FEARXP folder,. right click the FEARXP.exe -> properties , and then you should be able to see it. Gotta go to bed tho, its 1am here, good luck man. Set it to Windows XP .You can find all solutions to everything on the internet, if you dont understand how something works, google it up. Thats how i fix all my issues lol :D

(FEARXP folder is the first DLC which is extraction point)
