Anyone else feel like this game took inspiration from The Giver?

I've watched and read The Giver and honestly, this game had similar vibes. This could just be me.

Similarities:
You have a world living in black and white, where anything colorful is bad. A protagonist who is given the gift to see/ be exposed to color, including someone who knows the secrets behind this world and is guiding our protagonist. Lastly, when the rest of society finds out the protag can see colors and is "trying to promote it", society tries to get rid of the protag. Some similarities I noticed.

Hopefully, whenever Chapter 2 gets developed and released, I'll be proven wrong. I don't think it's bad if the game took inspo from another media source just as long as there's plans for its own original events and ending. I look forward to coming back to the game in the future.

I’d actually never heard of The Giver until people brought up its similarity after I released the game. It’s ended up to be a massive coincidence! I don’t know how the story to The Giver plays out but I’m willing to bet the story to my game is extremely different. It’s probably a good thing for people to compare my game to something that seems so well-received!

Hi! I didn't expect you to see this, but thanks for dropping by! :D I made this post just out of curiosity and to hopefully sprout some theories from anyone in this community, since this game is pretty underrated right now. I enjoyed Chapter 1 btw, so I hope this post didn't come off as bashing on the game or anything. I look forward to what you have in store for this.
