that was actually the point in the trailer that got me in.
Looks janky as ♥♥♥♥ and would not be a solid M/B clone. But this idea seems silly enough that it should bring a few hours of fun with friends and beer in coop.
Instantly wishlisted!
if you liked everything except the car, just don't use the car.
I myself too am personally a huge fan of medieval games like Kingdom Come, Crusader Kings and M&B:B and very rarely touch shooting games with modern weaponry, but I had an absolute blast playtesting Kingmakers. I kept thinking, what in the world must these poor soldiers be thinking when they first see my character pull out all these weapons that probably look like utter sorcery to them? I felt like a hero in a way that made more sense: due to my gear and equipment, not due to being magical or with super strength.
(edit) I'm a Community Manager btw, not a game dev so I'm speaking from my personal exp playing it so far!
Now that sounds cool.
Imagine playing as necromancer, and shooting necrotic bolts at the enemy knights? Or raising up the dead to fight for you?
Ugh, that would have been so cool! Instead, Mount and Blade for the Saints Row crowd, I guess?
Yep, and the "running guys over in a truck" could have been some sort of magical mount. Then the attack helicopter could have been like a dragon or an elemental.
This all would have been setting appropriate, and would have allowed for more customization anyway.
Mount and Blade but with magic?
No, I don't think it has been done before. Can you point to a game that combines strategy and battlefield action, in the way Mount and Blade does, but with magic?
Honestly, the idea of mixing things like Battlezone/Bannerlord with Dark Future is pretty fun, worth trying it when it's out.
