Kingmakers

Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War with guns?
The whole thing reminds me of this obscure RTS from 2005:

loved that game! So unique in alot of things. Only thing that bugged me was the Hero usage resource limit. I wanted to fight with my troops and allies on the ground more often then commanding. You could even fight ontop of ships and have boarding actions while fighting with your hero, it was amazing! Shame nothing has ever got close to it's features since.

Ikr? It's a shame there's not a lot of RTS with that feature. The very idea of marrying RTS with Dynasty Warriors combat really endless potential.

Hopefully, Kingmakers may usher this combo back.

For sure. I mean I have seen a good handful of "Direct Controllable hero with RTS Army" here and there, but never seemed to have things like topside ship battles and buildable siege walls you can manually climb ladders to and fight on/from yourself. Usually takes the RTS route in making buildables uninteractable unless it's for their basic functions in RTS mode.

If we have that kind of gameplay now with modern game engines, the possibilities are endless, namely the QoL modern controls & the destructible environments!
