PS4 vs PC the challenge achievement [serious spoiler]
The PS4 has an advantage of that the user can take a screenshot then go into "Rest mode" so that they can solve the puzzle and come back to the challenge.

Isn't that unfair towards PC users who can't pause the challenge at all?

Yeah, but it's more fun doing it legitimately anyway. Fine with me if they want to cheat it to make it easier. You can cheat on every puzzle in this game by looking them up anyway.

Nice title! :)
(I expected something like PS4 vs PC...)
You can always make a printscreen with F12 in Steam, but I have not checked if pressing Escape will work (to bring the menu) and if it does, then if that also pauses the game.

I do agree that winning a timed challenge "legit" gives much more satisfaction.

Even though you can look up solutions, there still are a few puzzles where I have not found an online solution for. Also, some puzzles seem to be randomly generated (in the time challenge), for what they told me, so a guide would not help there... :)

That's the thing. The PS4 players get the option of pausing the time challenge whereas us PC players have no option like that.

It's not really unfair since it was never intended this way, it's actually like cheating. If you want to cheat, there are also a lot of options for PC players I can think of.

No you can't.

Would the timer pause if you took a pic with a phone and then put the computer to sleep

It would fail when you took the pic. The Witness application has reverse optical flash feedback sensitivity (ROFFS). This means it can detect when the display it's being output on has had a picture taken of it.

It's crazy but Blow put most of the budget for this game into protecting against that people cheating this specific puzzle.

You can F12 screen capture, then Shift-Tab to bring up captured screens. This is faster than using a phone pic initially but slower to keep shift-tabbing to check the map vs having a phone pic sitting on a stand next to the screen. I also once accidentally hit Esc instead of shift-tab which the game took to mean pause and that reset the challenge.

If you don't mind cheating harder, try this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/210970/discussions/4/412446292759805453/
