Why so much hate?

I was looking into this forum to decide if the games worth a buy but everybody seems to be mad at Steam because of the multiplayer. In my humble opinion this is not Valve's fault but Human Head's for not updating the original games to be compatible with steamworks Rune Classic.Valve just distribute the game but they don't decide whenever a game has achievements or is updated. So if you want to complain go to the official Human Head forums because they probably aren't looking here.

The same happened before with many games, for example The Bard's Tale wasn't playable at all in x64 systems until inXile decided to update the game.

Yes the game is most definitely worth purchasing. It has amazing atmosphere, tons of weapons and some fun monsters to battle. Turn up the difficulty and it will definitely challenge you. It was made with the original Unreal engine but feels a lot more akin to Quake. This version has the original game with the added expansion pack extras.

Hi, I just bought the game, and it's good, but I bought it for the multiplayer function. Do you know if it is possible to access multiplayer at all? Any awnser is apreciatid. Kinda hard finding any info on a game this old.

Absolute classic, I never played the mp to be honest, the single player is good enough for me to have never bothered with mp and I played this through at least 3 times.

Haven't bought the steam version (yet). But I remember that I played the singleplayer countless hours, years ago when it was released.

Sure, most 1.08 servers have been tweaked so that you can access them with this version as well.

The single player has been updated with new enemies but many maps have been cut to create a shorter 'streamlined' experience. It's a great story to play through but only if you can stand outdated unreal engine 1 graphics.

There's no bots. There was a bot mod somewhere, but you'd be lucky to find it now.

Hello all....there are still several places to download "RuneBots v2b by eagleAR" from.

As administrator for Human Head's http://rune-world.com I have listed a description of it in the site's "Mods"[rune-world.com] page and where you will find download links. You might also check out "Rune-Library.com" too.

In that page, there are descriptions and links for several other old and newer Rune mods (SP, MP, Coop) there too. These do work with Rune Classic "Steam" as well. There are a few not listed there, but are listed on my "Runegamegoddess Homepage"

By the way, after Rune Classic was released, some older players wanted the original SP levels back. AmranX created a "Rune Extended" mod that reinstall these. You can find it through this "Editing and User Creations" Sticky[rune-world.com] in Rune-World.com.
