Balloons seem pointless
Balloons have a shorter range than arty, but cost more than anything else>

So, the very first thing you do at the start is destroy the enemy balloon with arty. Its easy to do, 2-3 volleys. it costs about 20 supply to take down a 150 supply asset.

Balloons should not be destroyable with arty, it should require fighters or something else that is counterable, because at the moment, especially in pvp, balloons will get instantly killed and thus have no place in the game.

Early war has its quirks. I tend to not use them at all on defense lol

Maybe putting them all the way in the back keeps them safe most of the time? They'd lose most of their value though, so probably not a good idea either.

I pretty much only use balloons when I have way too much supply anyway and want to more accurately bomb the enemy^^

I use balloons to spot enemy artillery and arty the ♥♥♥♥ out of their arty. Beyond that i don't care it if dies, if i can kill a few batteries i significantly hurt their ability to attack

your balloons cost more than double their artillery tho, not a good idea to let them die.

arty can only kill your balloon if it isn't raised. The only thing you would lose is the ground vehicle that bound to the balloon. You won't be able to lower your balloon without the vehicle, but you can still use aircraft to protect your balloon from enemy aircraft.

Not true. If a balloon is raised and you destroy the truck then the balloon will die too. It's my opening moves.

Would be really cool if you could move it when it is raised. It would justify the high cost for it and it could be balanced by making it so you can only lower it if it is near the truck.

They are useful, but way overpriced for what you get and need to win a battle.

ye they may die easy to arty but the purpose is to see enemy defenses and take out their balloons. its definitely the first thing you want to do in PvP imo. still worth it to get a couple to deny the enemy vision.

I agree moving a balloon would be nice. to do this i could see a camp pack time and the balloon has to be down. once you get to the new spot you deal with an unpack time. and we all know the truck is mush so protect it because if you lose it in the move then that's it.

Thing is - if balloons are not destroyable with artillery, then they are pretty much destroyable only with aircrafts, which means you'd HAVE to invest in aircrafts to hunt down enemy balloons as having unhindered vision is very powerful.

But at the same time I do agree with you that as it stands balloons are too fragile. Maybe make it so that balloons can destroyed with upgraded artillery (similarly to how you have to invest into balloon hunting mission in case of aircrafts)? That way one side could specialize in aircraft, while the other could specialize in artillery, leading to more diversity.

Or make balloons dirt-cheap.

Or reduce the range of artillery and break battles into two phases: in phase one you deploy artillery in initial positions you have. In phase two you can update the position of artillery, depending on which points you took or lost. Each phase could last 15 minutes.

Does the AI even target them with Artillery or are all of you referring to multiplayer? At least in my campain the AI only tried to attack Ballonswith Infantry.

Thoug I agree that they are very costly and are near worthless against human players.

are people actually playing this in multiplayer ?
evertime i took a peek at the multiplayer lobby it was always completely emptey.
