How do you use siege barrages?

I have a quest to do 3 siege barrages but cannot figure out how to do it. I stack siege cannons in a hex but then nothing happens with them when I attack.

Once you start the preparation phase of a battle, the far right tab (on the bottom left where you deploy troops and trenches) is your Siege cannon and Mine Explosives tab. From there you can Barrage enemy lines (if it says barrage for x days, that's what you want) for several days. However, during the battle you can target a small area for a siege barrage that is basically guaranteed to kill anything in the zone. Tanks can survive, however, so long as they don't receive every shot of the barrage.
