as for the Battle Timers, I don't like that idea-mainly because it would run counter to how the game is designed and balanced, if you had an infinite amount of time what the players would do is bombard the enemy trenchlines with their heavy arty until they go down to say 100 or 200 supply. This would make the specialized ammo like Air-Burst or Gas EVEN MORE situational in regards to its effectiveness and completely invalidate the options that trade supply for getting stuff done faster. The only way that such a option could be balanced is by having some of the real-world issues like artillery not being REMOTELY as accurate as it is in-game would have to be added, and at that point we're already heading to a completely different game
as for your second point it's a OPTION for FUN not balance lost of people like me play solo RTS games for a chill experience and not to go hard on every game we play and adding tho's options will help keep players like me playing your game and willing to buy dlc's and stuff it makes no sense to keep players like me from having a MUCH better time playing your game just cause they can't be bothered to give their game some sandbox and replay-ability elements to it. after all its just like 2-4 button's it wont uproot the whole game most people aren't asking for anything more.
I want to enjoy the game and not being pushed to hurry against the clock. At least in skirmishes. They should just give us the freedom of choice.
The main issue that I'd see is this:
99% of the time, the difference would be that you spend 20 minutes pounding whatever you can spot with your Recce Balloons with Heavy Arty, if you have a large Depot or a doomstack of Corps then it'd make the game even easier than the easiest difficulty in the VAST majority of cases even if you include the Elite Buffs. And honestly just waiting an age bombarding the enemy trenches(bonus if the enemy starts sending in fresh troops to take the place of the ones you yeeted) would probably grow very boring very fast
in short, all I'd see out of such a mode is a expedited way that people would get burned out of the game because every battle would be even more similar, and there'd be no reason to change your approach to battles either
I'd just like to know what they'd do in a defence against a.i. with 10+ corps and an infinite timer. Oh boy what fun would it be to sit there while the a.i. does nothing put pummel your trenches for the entire battle (Of course they'd just arty snipe the balloon, which i think is BS but am also incredibly thankful for since needing a tech to shoot a balloon is stupid AF, and the a.i. just reels in the balloon anyway. So take this as a case where balloon-sniping wasn't a thing, and i think the a.i. kinda just pummels your trenches anyway regardless)
"Devs, pls fix the a.i. tendency to exploit the infinite timer that allows them to sit back and shoot my men 20ft under the earth even though this is exactly why I wanted this feature."
If you're attacking the timer doesn't even matter... unless you're playing Elite, in which case man I wish i could have just 5 more minutes.
On the one hand it would make Bunkers serve a real role
but something I'd love to see is the reaction of if the AI decided to partake in Cheese and just start doing "Attacks" that'd just be it bombarding your trenchlines until they hit the amount of Supply given by Corps and just start a harsh bleed of Gold because those would probably be hilarious and ironic
