how the hell does supply work??????
I either have no ammo or no troops or loads of troops and artillery but no ammo, I buy supply for 3 turns and attack noone, then I line up about 8 artillery and 10 companies, spy out a enemy and see they have 2 companies and 2 artillery so I attack. P{lace all my artillery and machine guns and loads of troops, start battle, fire 3 shots and theres no rounds left...what the heck????

maybe save some supply for during the battle

If you use too much supply to artillery in the planing, then your's supply in the actual battle it is small. Try save about 50 % or more yours supply to actual battle.

Did you build a supply depot in your province before attacking?
Only with a supply depot you can access the purchased global supply.
8 artillery... that's a lot of artillery.

If heavy, 8 x 90 = 720 supply just to place that arty.
If light, 8 x 70 =560 supply just to place that arty.

So right away, you are spending 560-720 supply on artillery placement alone.

The game only reserves 25% of supply for you, so if you place everything you can, and have 0 supply remaining when you begin battle, you might only end up with 100-150 supply once the tactical battle actually begins.

My suggestion is to not have more than 3-4 artillery placed unless you have a very high number of corps present. And right now you're at double the artillery placements of that.
Supply depots also provide supply. Corps only bring in a limited amount of supply that they carry (a little more than calling them in as reinforcements), definitely get the depots for more artillery support.

There are two pools of supply, the Global Supply that you've been buying more of, and the Regional Supply that represents what you have access to in a battle.

How much you have in your regional supply pool depends on how many Corps you have attacking or defending in that region.

A standard Infantry Corps gives you 180 supply to use in battle while an Elite Infantry Corps gives 200. An attack with 4 elite corps will thus give you 800 supply to spend over the battle.

In addition you can build a Supply Depot structure in a region that further increases your battle supply for that region. The first level supply depot adds an extra 400 supply. Upgrading to a higher level depot adds an extra 200 up to a maximum of 1200.

Please note that supply from your Corps is free and is replenished after a battle at no cost. However any supply you use from the Supply Depot structure must be replenished from the Global Supply.

As an example, you attack from a province with 4 Elite Corps and a Supply Depot. This gives you 800 supply from the corps and an additional 400 from the depot for a total of 1200. During the battle you spend 1000 supply to win. Of this 800 supply is freely replenished as it came from your corps. The remaining 200 supply that came from your supply depot must be refilled from the global supply, reducing it by 200.

One final note, when you start a battle during the preparation phase you will only have access to 75% of your supply as the game reserves a quarter for the actual fighting. If you are confident of victory you can spend all of this 75% in setting up and rely on the remaining 25% for the fighting. However you are able to use any remaining supply from the 75% you didn't spend on setting up during the combat phase so don't feel like you need to spend it all on structures. This is doubly true when you are attacking a weak enemy region as they're unlikely to attack even a lightly defended control point. (But make sure there is at least one company defending, they will take any opportunity to claim an defended point.)

I have regions with a supply depot of 1000 but receive none of it during battle. I only get supply from my infantry corps. I am not cut off from hq.

Do you have Global Supply available

if the enemy attacks you over your turn and you use up a LOT of supply defending, it can easily eat up your conversion limit per turn(not to mention the gold income per turn)

so if you are constantly running low on Supply, stop attacking and just focus on defending, along with going for conversion efficiency techs if needed

Sorry to just now reply, haven't played for a couple of days. So this last time, I was defending Noyon with only two corps. I had a level IV supply depot, so 1000 supply. During battle set up I got 400 supply, 300 for the two Central Power corps and then an extra 100. After that battle I was immediately attacked again and received 300 total.

again, do you have supply on the Strategic side of the Map? Because from what you said it sounds like you've ran out of supplies(the depot only having 100 supply to bring in for the first battle, and then after that battle it couldn't bring in any more supply)

I had about 2300+ in my supply, so that was no problem.
