Realtek HD audio: How do I enable surround sound in this game?
Hello,

I have 3D SoundBack Beta 0.1 installed, but when I click on the shortcut nothing happens and in the F.E.A.R. options menu all the EAX are greyed out.
I have Windows 7x64 and use quadrophonic speaker setup.

Have you tried the trick which gets Amnesia and Bioshock's surround sound to work. I did this ages ago an can't remember exactly, but it involved copying a dll into the same directory as the exe file. For Amnesia, there was a file "soft_oal.dll" which you renamed to "OpenAL32.dll" after copying it. However, for Bioshock, I am not sure if I used the same trick or simply copied the OpenAL32.dll I had downloaded from the OAL site. There is also a file "wrap_oal.dll" ... hmm ... anyway, this has worked (after mucking about to work out which file it is I need) on other games too which used to use EAX. I just never remember to write down what I did exactly. It might work with FEAR. Then again, it might not ... never tried it because of the stupid HID bug.

I found 4 OpenAL32.dll on my computer and put them all in the F.E.A.R. folder, however no cigar. =(

How did you get it to work? I copy-pasted dsound.dll to the Steam\steamapps\common\FEAR Ultimate Shooter Edition folder but no dice. :( Did you have to delete and/or copy-paste anything else?

Did you also copy dsound.ini?
Though I'm not sure as it has been a while back but I think for the expansions you need to paste these files in their subdirectories as well.
