F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R.

FPS Fix for Logitech devices + follow up question.
Start > Right-Click Computer > Manage > Device Manager > Human Interface Devices > disable all listed as HID-Compliant Device = Game no longer has FPS drop and runs slick as a whistle.

Seriously? The ONLY reason this game was giving me so much crap in settings and gameplay was because of my new wireless Logitech mouse having some stupid extra options enabled? SERIOUSLY!?!?

Okay...whatever. Now that that little annoyance is taken care of and I can finally play this game without it looking like the opening credits and cutscenes from Fallout 1&2,
I have this to ask:

Why do I need these "HID-Compliant Devices" enabled at all to begin with? Do they mess up my other games in any way? Or can I just leave them disabled from here on out?

If anyone could provide an answer to my question I would be most grateful!

They are responsible for the more advanced functions of the devices, for example controlling the function assigned to the extra mouse buttons if you have them, macro settings on the G keys of G-series keyboards, LCD display on some keyboards, etc. If you can live without these functions, you can safely leave these items disabled.

Damn shame I have to disable my extra buttons every time I want to play F.E.A.R., especially given I use them for screenshots. Oh well. Small price to pay to enjoy one of the best FPSes I suppose.

It only blocks the buttons when using the SetPoint software. Just exit SetPoint and the game will be able to use the extra buttons (3, 4 and 5) if you set them in the key settings page in the game.

Another thing I use is a little program called XmouseButtonControl which lets you set the functions of the extra buttons, you can set them to various actions such as simulated keystrokes and you can have different profiles for each program, much the same as SetPoint. If you want you can use this as an complete alternative to SetPoint. And of course, it works with the HID compliant devices being disabled, so it won't interfere with FEAR.

I found a solution for me.
I set the "signal rate" -I dont know the correkt name in english- from 1000 to 125 and the frame drops only with until 10 fps
