This game is garbage, take off the nostalgia goggles
So the boomers have come out of the woodwork again to circlejerk this game for some reason. In reality, this game was totally forgotten about at launch and it is only years after its release, with gaming heavily in decline, that this game seems good. Yes, FEAR is good compared to modern FPSs, but it absolutely falls short compared to its contemporaries.

No the AI isn't actually good. They literally either camp or rush, a grand total of two behaviors. The reason the AI seems good is because they vocalize their actions, which is a cool yet meaningless feature that modern devs don't implement, again, making the game look good in comparison to games of today. If you want to see actual good AI in action, check out SWAT 3/4 or Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

The level design is garbage and almost exclusively consists of dark, narrow hallways.

The enemy variety is nonexistent between the clones, droids, and ninjas who are dealt with the exact same way.

The game is not scary and the story is stupid.

So yeah, just needed to give a reality check to the boomers, ty for coming to my TED talk.

Someone's having a bad day.
Yea you are right. The 93% positive reviews are all wrong.
Who asked?
You negatively reviewed this game july 2024 and you are still complaining. Like bruh even if you had good points (which you dont) I dont get get why you are coming back to the forums of a game you dont like. Go play what you like and just enjoy games man. Dont try and go after others for being "boomers" (weird insult btw) and liking what you dont like.
very obvious troll

The only way this assessment makes any sense is if the OP has no interest in atmosphere and immersion.

Regarding gameplay alone, F.E.A.R. can be a serious challenge if you want it to be. But in my opinion F.E.A.R.'s most valuable offering is its atmosphere --- the overall experience.

I class F.E.A.R. --- along with games like Unreal, Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Dark Messiah, Dead Space, and BioShock --- as a "Lonely Journey" game. If there are Immersive Sims, these could be called Immersive Action games.

Eighty percent of the enjoyment comes from the experience of moving through the environments... of being immersed in the environments. None of these games have soundtracks; everything you hear is part of the environment.

It is crucial to play this type of game on a large display in complete darkness, and with intra-aural earphones (not earbuds).

Tell us on the doll where the videogame hurt you, You've been complaining for almost a year now.
dude im 13 and discovered this game by my brother digger telling me about and i got it originally on the ol 360 given to me by my other brother jack, i happened to find the game at a now defunct store in the mall called retro reeboot, i fell in love. Now i use a computer and got f.e.a.r again and got cnc generals. I love old games in general, but i respect your opinion.
