You may have to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 first though.
I recorded a video in 4K resolution of it recently.

By cons, regarding "Extraction Point" and "Perseus Mandate" here's what to do :
Run the game once and configure the options HOWEVER you like.
Exit the game
Run notepad and open C:\Users\Public\Documents|TimeGate Studios/FEARXP\settings.cfg
Change the "ScreenWidth" and "ScreenHeight" values to match your desired resolution. (1920 and 1080)
Run the game aims do not go to the "Display" in-game configuration menu or it will reset your resolution and you'll need to edit the config file again.
For me it works great ! For "Perseus Mandate", you must do the same in FEARXP2 folder.
The Default address is the Monolith Productions folder in your documents.
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR
If it is Extraction Point or Perseus Mandate, then the Timegate folder will be around the same area.
C:\Users\Public\Documents\
In there is the Config File.
In fact, you can pick pretty much any resolution. The only issue is that after 1440p, the HUD stops scaling, so it's pretty much unreadable at 4K unless you enable the Windows Ease-of-Access crap with magnifiers and text-to-speech.
