Would you buy a F.E.A.R. 1 remake?
Would the Resident Evil Engine be good for it? Providing they can keep the S tier AI and multiplayer.

Many games boast they have good AI yet they cannot beat this game or similar era games.

Just some thoughts, and now I want to hear yours, still got my physical version somewhere.

Maybe.

If they stuck to the style and gameplay of the original, but gave it a graphical overhaul, I'd probably pay for that.

But if they tried to modernize it too much and ruin what made the original great, maybe not.

I'd rather have HD textures only. For levels and models. A remake would probably ruin this gem by butchering its gameplay mechanics.

A proper quality remake, yes.

They would have to do a top notch job of emulating the atmosphere of this game. The atmosphere is phenomenal, possibly the best of any game I've played..

No, this game is still great the way it is, it aged like wine and it doesn't need a remake, moreover I wouldn't trust anyone from modern day studios to remake this classic.

it'd be 50% cutscenes showing pointman
If it was literally just a texture update and some quality of life changes then yes. Otherwise nah I'm alright i'll stick to the original

Yes.
It needs a remaster more than a remake, due to all the technical bugs with modern systems such as the instability and the hardware accelerated sound/EAX. And a remaster needs ray tracing to fix this game's horrible lighting; e.g., you're in a fully lit office but you still need your flashlight because even the area between two big ceiling lights is pitch black.

It would depend on the studio, IMO. If Arkane or ID did it? Yes, absolutely; those two companies have shown us what they can do with first-person games, and the budget they would have from Microsoft would mean they would be able to go all out. Modern-day WB Games? Nuh-uh, not a chance.

if today's id did it, you'd have to use the repeating cannon to rip off the heavy dudes' armor before you can deal any real damage then replace your ammo with a bicycle kick
