back to the steam page i also uninstalled and then reinstalled the game but that didn't help at all :[.
From WB Game's Support
1. Navigate to the game's installation directory. Usually its "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\FEAR";
2. Right click on [FEAR.exe] file and select [Properties];
3. On the [Compatibility] tab, click the "Run this program in compatibility mode" check box;
4. Click the dropdown box and select [Windows XP Service Pack 2];
5. Click the "Disable fullscreen optimizations" check box;
I tried this as well, it did not work. Mine was due to the following remarks:-
"This code execution cannot be proceed because d3dx9_27.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem"
But FEAR2 and FEAR3 don't have this problem.
*Right click the game in your Library list
*Go to Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files
*Open DirectX folder
*Run DXSETUP.exe
*Follow the directions to install
*Once it's complete, game should work
This should automatically install when first launching game, but may have failed
Try this before downloading Web installer as above user mentioned. The one that comes with the game is the specific Run-Time version used by the game and should be your first option
I have tried this, the installation failed
I have tried this, the installation failed
Software like DirectX is usually installed during game install.
I did not see this mentioned as a fix.
