Launcher.exe doesn't exists even after verifying files.
Hello! So I've been playing the other 2 expansions of this game, Extraction Point & Perseus Mandate without issue. But can't still open nor play the original game.

The only difference I've noticed is that the original game folder doesn't got a launcher.exe, any idea how to fix this? Verifying steam files did nothing to download that file.

Why do you want to run the game through Launcher.exe anyway? There has never been any Launcher.exe for the original game. I'm not sure why it even exists for the expansions. Just run the game normally through Steam or FEAR.exe.

Well the problem is, as soon i try to launch through steam or by the FEAR.exe in the installation folder the game process just dies and never opens up the game, checked both via CMD and the Task Manager.

Already tried re installing the game 3 times, the compatibility to win 7 & xp packs 1 and 2; run the game as administrator, disable fullscreen optimization, tried with the .dll fixes (they helped in the expansions for perfomance).

Both extraction point & perseus mandate work fine, both through steam, their .exe and their launchers. But the original FEAR doesn't even open :/

Well found a solution, it seems that somehow the .exe (config.exe & FEAR.exe) both were broken and / or corrupted. Copied and pasted those (alongside the binkw32.dll & config.Strdb00p, Default.archcfg, eax, dll) from the CD version I got a long time ago, and it seemed to fix it. I can play the original game, finally!

But I do wonder why their .exe and some of their .dll got broken and not fixed even with verify their files via steam. It's the 2nd game that caused issues, the other being the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 that lacked it's launcher.exe compared to the CD version I got.

That's weird to say the least. Glad you sorted it out :funnycube:

Indeed! Still idk if the issue was my computer or steam files related to FEAR 1. But it seems now i'm stuck at the 1.0 version instead of the 1.08 version (that's the latest version update in steam).

Anyways, I do hope that the 1.0 version is stable crashes wise, i've read this game tends to crash from time to time in some sections.
