F.E.A.R on console?
I know this is a strange place to post this, but I heard a lot of good things about fear and found a second hand copy for the xbox 360 and decided to give it a shot (I remember hearing somewhere that the port was good). But boy is it just me or does this game run terribly on console? Huge hitches and framerate drops. It's as if the game is constantly loading new sections and so it completely freezes up for seconds at a time. Really pulling me out of the experience. Don't suppose anyone else has tried this game on a console?

Yeah I already tried installing it to my hard drive, and the disc itself looks fine apart from a few minor scuffs. Is this just how it runs on console? Or could it be that my xbox is just ageing? It runs other games just fine.

I see. Well I never played this game on 360. If other games play well I believe it must be the issue with the game itself not your console.
It could be that the 360 can't handle the graphics and enemy AI on 360, since for the time the game was released it had very high visuals and advanced AI. I think you shouldn't worry about your console, it's probably an issue with the game itself.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Just surprised because I heard that the console port was good. Really been wanting to play this game and as I don't have a pc this is my only option.

On another note, how easy is this game to run? Like I have a pretty average laptop, will it run any better as opposed to on xbox?

I 1st ran the game on win xp 32bit with -0- issues, it died and went to win 7 64bit and I had a few graphic issues when in slo-mo but not game stopping. When win 7 died and I went to win 10 I bought the steam version and all the game did was freeze up at the beginning of the story. Fear 1 and the 2 xpacs were one of my favorite game series, it would be nice to play them again

Well this game is from 2005 so I would say every moder day laptop can run the game smoothly at max settings. For the time it was released the system requirements where high, like Doom 3 for example. But now it's a joke.

F.E.A.R. Recommended Requirements
CPU: Pentium 4 or Athlon XP.
CPU SPEED: 3 GHz.
RAM: 1 GB.
OS: Windows 2000/XP with latest service pack installed.
VIDEO CARD: 256 MB DirectX 9.0c compliant video card with Hardware T&L and Pixel Shader 2.0 support (GeForce 6600+ / Radeon 9800 Pro+)
TOTAL VIDEO RAM: 128 MB.
HARDWARE T&L: Yes.

The game is also on PS3... Runs great for an old game.

I played the hell out of it on my xbox 360 and it runs great on it.

PS3 version of the game works like a charm, but there's one catch - there is no expansions for it. There was F.E.A.R. files on the X360 and it has two playable expansions minus the main game.

Honestly, if your looking for the best experience, I would get the PC version.

In my opinion, I think that all versions are great.
No better version. Only if you prefer controller or K&M.

It's probabbly because the hardware used in the X360 and PS3 consoles could not handle the AI. The console's hardware was a bit limited at the time.
Also, the SM15 machine pistol is a gun exclusive to the 360 port (not sure about PS3).

The AI is very good on console as well. lol But maybe mods (if there are any on PC) would make it better on PC.
