Definitive fix for low frames per second in F.E.A.R. Download my DirectInput8 Wrapper

Hello! my friends. I wrote this DLL for this great game that I like and enjoy so much. Looking for a solution to this severe problem of low FPS due to incorrect call trace to DirectInput with no success, I started to develop a solution that seems to fix this issue (it works for me). I want to share this DLL because you deserve to play it well at normal 60 frames per second. There is another solution out there but it seems to be obscure and harmful. So I desided to write my own DLL. Feel free to download it and use.

Download the Zip file, and store dinput8.dll in your F.E.A.R. directory just where FEAR.EXE is. Start F.E.A.R. as you usually do.

There is already a DLL solution out there that has gained wide support and confirmation of its safety. People should be aware that injecting external DLLs into programs is very dangerous. The safest method of all is to simply disable the relevant HID-compliant devices in device manager.

I know that is very dificut to belive in other's code. And it's true, downloading a DLL from internet is in general dangerous.

It also works for F.E.A.R Perseus Mandate and F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. You must copy this DirectInput8 Wrapper in your directories FEARXP and FEARXP2 that might be inside FEAR directory.

i didnt trust this at first... but man you saved the game for me. i can confirm that it works wonders on both the main game and in extration point. i cant thank you enough for the fix, playing fear in 60fps is just beautiul

No, it desn't. It only wraps DirectInput8 calls. Direct3D works as usual.
