Also doing more training laps definitely prevents you from accidentally getting faster than expected in a race due to learning it on the fly. If you don't want to wear your engine parts, then driving a littlebit in for example time trial can also help.
Start a grandpix with a car of your choice.
Adjust the difficulty and restart untill you match the time of your team mate. ( because he has the same car obviously)
Thats roughly what your fair ai level is then. Beware though it can vary from track to track. On some the ai is stronger or youre worse.
Thats what i did always and it always worked.
here you can set a lap in time trial in each track and it will calculate the difficulty level for you
Every Driver drives differently due to their ratings. You should do the qualifying multiple times as well because they don't finish the exact same time every qualifying. After 5 tries, pick the average. For me, I always match my pace with Norris since F1 2020. So no matter what car I drives in, I will always be as fast as Norris but never as fast as Hamilton and Verstappen.
