Passed under safety car. Is this legal?

I was in first place when a safety car was called out. I was told to slow down because I was over the speed limit. I stayed a little back from the safety car to get a good start when it was called in. Hamilton passed me, putting me in 2nd place. When I overtook him, I was told to give the place back...but I was in first.

How is that legal?

Maybe Lewis went on a crying/screaming tirade and to make him stop they allowed his behavior? Wouldn't be the first time

I can't say, but real F1 has a rule that gives a minimum distance or interval to the safety car. This is ten car lengths I believe. I cannot say if F1 23 uses this, but it would make sense in this case.

That might be true but I would imagine I would have gotten a penalty, not just have another car pass me and nothing said about it.

No point doing that with AI as they react with your throttle input anyway.
