And secondly, you have the rarity on top of it, which mostly determines the passive effects, so an epic item simply has better bonuses than uncommon ones, but as said, that doesn't affect the score at all.
And yeah, higher scores are definitely faster, so prioritize that over whatever secondary effect you have, especially when they're so far apart.
