A quick one lap car is not the aim for the race. Aiming for a balance obviously.
I find the opposite to what you described.
At least for me, Q seems tougher than the actual race. Which is kind of annoying.
If I qualify 20th, and am 2 seconds slower than the AI in Quali, it makes no sense that I am 2 seconds faster in the race than them.
If you qualify 20th, you would expect it to be hard to overcome. Instead, the AI end up performing really poorly compared to their quaily ranks.
Many things can go down in race sometimes you run with a new engine and AI has a engine that just passed the 55% or whatever cliff is and if during qualif was still okayish in race lost some performance and you gain with your fresh engine.
So many variable I don't know how you guys can be sure of one thing or the opposite when your analysis feel so superficial.
