Sanctum 2
tower focus bug at first "flying invincible boss"?
i'm at the last level of one of the bonus maps (first or second). everything is fine until the boss in the final wave always attracts the damage of all my towers (which always is zero) - no matter their setting. they just ignore everything else.

is this a bug? they should fire at the smaller enemies, not the boss.

are you set traget to the weakest?
DoomyDoom Nov 9, 2018 @ 1:21pm
Focus tower does not rescan for targets. If it's locked onto something, it will keep firing until the target is either dead or out of range.
i know focus towers lock on and don't switch, but it happened even to towers i put further away. smaller enemies were definitely in range before they started firing. it also happened to gatling towers that i set to "nearest". they only fired at the boss.

how do i beat this level?

Choose different towers. Lightnings and ACP's work well. Or spam Makeshift cannons to semi-permastun the boss:

This also works if your level is high enough:

i tried drone towers since they ignore armor, but they didn't even attack the boss.
so basically, all my towers either don't attack or do zero damage.
what's the "offical tower" to use against this boss?

i make it to the last wave with many setups, but they all fail at the end.
(never used the makeshift tower so far. what does it do? the description doesn't indicate stunning enemies)

i even put one at the very end and added a range enhancer to it so that the boss would be attacked while floating at the core, but still, nothing happened.

Guns and perks.

It has a chance on each attack to either stun whatever it hits for a very short to or to misfire, shutting down for a short time. When you put a lot of them, the probabily will generally work in your way (something will be a stun at any given moment), but their damage is mediocre at best, so you'll need something else to compensate and put in work with weapons and tanking the wave.

the boss needs to be killed by you.

How about you read what people have already replied before posting your answer?

This boss is the only problem beating this stage solo all feats of strenght. If you ask me the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is that it can spawn with the weakspot in the back, happened three times in a row now :'). Was very close another time but the weakspot allways alternated opposite sides which made it take a lot longer to hit it... I' ll finish it soon, maybe with my friend with one of us using the drone launcher for easy boss stage.

Finally, just finished it. Got desperate and struggled my way to the boss with the drone launcher. Made short work of him, though I tried the drone towers first and they were useless...

The last video was really inspirational thanks for that!

Well, you need the range spire tower overcharged to make them work gainst the boss; I am not sure if single player provides enough ressources to make this strategy effective, probably you are right.

I saw a video were it was used, but only one with tinkerer perk and the dmg seemed small and a bit pointless as he was using the drone launcher aswell.
As you say it might work better with range spire and the resources would probably make it unwise.

I've just tried the drone tower. Used the same setup as my tower-less video, but put Range/Amp and 2 Drones in the midlle of lines 2 and 4, because you can only have one swarm active at a time. Range OC'd to +50%, Amp just straight T3, both drones at ~380 damage (that's full resources of the map without selling penalty). Drones took the boss down to about 31k out of 150k without my help. Well, maybe some random damage from Desperate measures, so let's more realistically say down to 40k.

So, basically, it doesn't solve anything. You still have all the same problems to solve, like juggling between the boss and actual wave and dodging attacks aimed at your back by audio cues and gut feeling. I'd say you're better off bringing ground only towers like Lightning/ACP and doing the boss in yourself with relative safety from the wave.

Suspected it. Cool that you tried it and amazing you beat this map towerless. As I said earlier I went with the drone launcher which solved the boss. No matter how I tried it seemed too hard to juggle although I was close several times. In the end a drone launcher made the last stage trivial, but the way there became harder as a result. Still my best advice for less experienced players.
