This was a mindf**k fever dream that asks players to follow their most unhinged thoughts. I seriously love this game. It's a hidden gem for body horror. If you like A Bug's Life and the game Grounded, you'll love this game. Also, the fly has pitter patter feet sounds when it walks. I walked places just to hear that cozy sound.

You are a fly, feeding on dead things, but there’s nothing dead in this strange world. Hungry, you decide to enter a twisted Mario-style piranha plant and consume the memories of a mysterious being. The more memories you consume, the more you absorb their essence and yearn to know more, driven by your insatiable hunger—much like your curiosity as a player.

This game, very different from Repairing Mantis, compels the player to take their time. You’ll navigate a polluted swamp, pausing to clean your eyes with distinct gameplay sequences that enhance the storytelling.

The Haunted PS1 genre is growing in popularity, with more creators striving to offer compelling experiences. While this genre can be rife with opportunistic and poorly made games, The Hungry Fly stands as a remarkable exception. From the very first minutes, the developers’ expertise is evident. The environments, lighting effects, sound design, and unsettling gazes of the characters are all crafted brilliantly, immersing us in an adventure that seems anything but welcoming at first.

The direction is at times clever, sad, poetic, and eerie, prompting us to question the meaning of life and explore the challenges of being a fly in 2024.

I love dark and eerie games they have a unique charm. And I love arthropods even more.
Becoming a fly, even for a short while, was quite amusing.
As for the game itself, the first playthrough was the most engaging. The game is highly abstract, ultimately about loneliness, death, and rebirth.
Earning all the achievements feels somewhat drawn out, as you have to go through the same repetitive sections multiple times.
I can recommend it if what I described resonates with you. Otherwise, it might be best to pass on this one.

If you liked Faith, you'll also like The Hungry Fly. It's very much a horror game for adults, with a dream-like environment absolutely rife with metaphor. It's short, but multiple endings and branching paths give you ample reason to play again. Actually, you'll likely want to play through it multiple times just to figure out what's really happening. I know I will be.

I'm no stranger to eff'ed up horror, body horror, or surrealism in games. I'm weird that way. But Erupting Acocado is *weirder*.

This game is fantastic, in every possible sense of the word, but, boy, oh boy... I knew I needed to play it when I discovered the demo on the HauntedPS1 Demo Disc, but that demo does not prepare you for the game proper.

It's short, but highly replayable, choices matter, it has multiple endings. And I will unlock them all. Some time.

But for now, I will be perfectly happy staring at a blank wall for a few hours.

I cannot get over how good this art style and music work so well for this creepy little game. There's always something lying in under the surface and once you start scrubbing, the more you scrub the more traumatized you'll become. I highly recommend you go into this game blind if you could.
I did manage to get all three endings I want to go back and get the worse possible ending at some point.
