Forgot name of my character, can’t access “true ending”

I added a custom name initially, despite the insistance of the narrator who suggested my account name. There is at some point where you need to input a characters name, and I want to try my own characters but I have forgotten what it was. Because it is never mentioned or shown after the first few minutes of the game.

I’ve tried everything without any luck, does someone know a way to find out your characters name?

I believe if you go to one of the early endings where you die (for instance, Shogo being trapped in the darkness and dying there), the Storyteller will mention your name, saying something like "My my [name], it seems you met an unfortunate end..."

fwiw, I saw just the title of this post while looking for discussions about a glitch I was encountering and it completely spoiled the puzzle and big reveal at the very end of the game for me. I'd consider changing it before it does the same for someone else...

Your "other" name works just as well. I went back and messed around with giving wrong answers. Also you you can go replay past events to find it.

For info, I got stuck here because the field was case sensitive. So if you entered your player's name with an upper case at the beginning of the game, don't forget to write it this way after.

Just an FYI for those having similar issues: You can find your name under Files -> Gameplay Guide -> How to Play [File #1]. It should be at the very bottom ("Best of luck on your journey, [name]")
