Dev Feedback - USB Wheel Support
If this message finds the devs, thank you for reading. If this message finds anyone else, please share your thoughts. A big takeaway from the demo for me was wheel support. I know that controller/wheel support was not implemented yet in the demo, which I understand, but I am concerned about what seems to be the recycled steering wheel input system from Snowrunner. The current system does not give users to ability to map USB inputs.

For the devs: The system works great for people who have "bundles," such as the Logitech G920, where the pedals and wheelbase are from the same manufacturer and are meant to be paired together. The same goes for Thrustmaster products. However, with the increase in available products in the sim racing market, many people (such as myself) are beginning the mix-and-match brands. For example, I have a Logitech G920 wheel, but I have upgraded my pedals since with ones from a different manufacturer.

The problem and solution: To my knowledge, there was no input system in Snowrunner that allowed us to map inputs independently for pedals and wheels. The game would not recognize the USB inputs separately. I know that some people have claimed that a Xbox controller emulator can be used as a workaround, but I have found this solution to be less than ideal as there are many glitches with the inputs. In summary, the ability to map the input axis(s) of USB devices, such as wheels and pedals, would allow people with different products to be able to play the game.

Further, this could allow people with joysticks to map joystick axes as inputs and operate the crane with the joystick. Other driving simulators, such as Farming Simulator and American/Euro Truck Simulator, have the ability to recognize the input of any USB wheel/pedal device.

To improve the immersion and driving aspect of the game, I want to highlight the lack of the current ability to do this with the current controller input system. With my current setup, I cannot use a wheel and pedals, and anyone with a mix of wheels and pedals from different manufacturers are also unable to do so without the help of third-party software.

Happy to hear everyone's thoughts, and thank you for reading! - Needs More Drums
