⚠️BEWARE of cheaters in public CO-OP. They can mess up your save file with 999 resources.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3490558992

That was my concern even during the demo. unfortunately Devs didn't do anything about it. Today my savefile was corrupted by a cheater.

I joined public co-op session and saw these 999 resources, I disconnected right away maybe within 5 seconds.

TOO LATE, MY SAVEFILE WAS ALREADY UPDATED. CAMPAIGN MESSED UP.

Reminds me of GTA V times, when clowns could drop money bags on you.

WTF, really? P2P and no anti-cheat.

PC gaming is flooded with cheating which can affect co-op PvE games too, by ruining your progression experience in public sessions, throwing on you money, mingle with your experience level, unlock all upgrades for you, spawn infinite number of items, e.g. trucks , and so on.

IMHO this game is uses P2P connections without dedicated servers, so planting host based cheats or untracked mods would be very easy. Will there be a decent anti-cheat on launch?

This game shines in co-op, but I would rather have only official mods from Mod.io or Steam Workshop, that are tracked, verified and automatically dowloaded to your client on joining a public game.

when you exit multiplayer it asks you if you want to keep the multiplayer save or keep your single player save.. which is annoying expecially after your 100% in sp... go into multiplayer and accidently save the mp session.. because thats your new sp session.
Restoring local backup of savefile for map, doesn't fix the resources.

Savefile, your profile are corrupted by just joining a public session.
there is a save editor so you can get rid of them.. after that i would just play with people you know.

You don't get it. My map was not overwritten.

The co-op resources are updated on your profile for each map.
If you do contract for 5 steel bars you will later have 5 steel bars in your game, same goes for fuel, and of course money. The option you refer to save on exit is for built roads and bridges, trucks' positions.

Here are my original resources for this map. Money $86K, I earned today playing co-op for few hours on other map.

The only option I have is to reset whole map...

you can edit what your talking about.. back to whatever you want

2 people just gave you a way to fix it.

That's not a solution. I'm not going to download and install crappy cheats to counter crappy cheaters.

This needs to be fixed and game level.
well start from 0 then i dont know what to tell you.. once your save file is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the devs cant help you.. you either have to help yourself or start over. and then only play with people you know.

This is a valid solution to your problem. If you're unhappy with it you just have to restart the map(s).

Cheating in general is not preventable. All developers can do is buy time. Eventually, anything they do, will be hacked. This is why most companies out source they anti cheat to other companies. However nowadays most of those anti cheats are basically malware and I appreciate that this game does not force it upon me. In the end even these measure fail anyway except now a large portion of people simply won't play anymore due to needing malware on their PC to run it.

The best way to protect yourself is to only play with people you know or trust.

I don't want to go to shady websites and download and install shady software.
I also use PC for other purposes than gaming too.

Moreover I play different games too, that have Windows' kernel-level anti-cheat and can trigger a perma ban just by scanning your installed software. e.g. COD.

So no, I won't "cheat" my way out of it.
It's Dev responsibility to provide a good gaming and co-op experience.

The simplest solution here would be that client needs to acknowledge it progress after game session, and not instantly updating your profile and ruining you experience on all maps. Resetting map is not FREE.
I spent like 12 hours on Salt Mines map, building roads and paving asphalt in solo campaign. on Incommunicado it is more like 25. And jointing cheater's session can ruin that progress in a second on any map!!

The simplest solution - the simplest check on session exit...

"You earned 1000 EXP, $100 and 999 wood, 999 pipes, 999 steel bars, 999 concrete for this session.

DO you want to update your profile with these changes❓
➡️ If not press and hold R to reject them."

I haven't played co-op but someone mentioned that it is up to the player if they keep the progress from a multiplayer save or not. So it sounds like this problem was mostly on you not taking the time to read before you confirmed to overwrite your single player data.

If you bothered to do some research, you would know that you don't need to go to any shady websites. There is plenty of official software, even for free, that you can use to solve your issue legitimately. Hackers are often using perfectly legit means but in a nefarious way.

The two other options are to wait for the developers to maybe fix your save for you. Or you can reset the effected map or maps. You could also just start an entirely new game.

There is also a third option. A lot of people have been losing their saves completely or having them get corrupted. Again, if you had looked into the problem, you would know on this very discussion board there are several other peoples save files which you can download to fix this problem to some degree. Obviously not all saves will be where you were, but there might be one out there. Again if you look for it.

Gl m8, happy trucking.

Edit: I just want to be clear that I'm not advocating for cheating.

It is NOT a competitive game. Its your responsibility how you play this fully modable game, not the devs.
Fortunately I started doing save backups after patch 1.5 due to increasing number of reports about lost saves and corrupted save after this patch. I recalled their previous games like WWZ had similar problems.

It's not great though, the last backup I have is from 3 days ago, so I lost some progress - about 3 hours solo campaign, and about 6-7 hours co-op rewards, total around 45K EXP and 70K money. But all in all it's better than hacked back and forth save file.

I looked briefly on that save editor page. Author claims himself that it might cause problems in future, because saves data is way more complicated than in Snowrunner, he tried his best, but you the app is given as is with no warranty. So it could potentially cause game crashes or some other problems in future.

STILL I think game should be proof to such cheat injection, and especially from propagating it to other user through co-op session.
It's 2025, it's not a new or uncommon problem, Devs should have thought about it before game release.

its impossible to "proof" a game from these.

just a simple look into how its done will show you there is no way to stop it.

and you are right, its not uncommon, but what game do you know of that has managed to block/stop every cheater?

i cant think of a single one.

even games with always online anti cheat? no problem for cheaters lol

also a case of careful what you wish for here
to make some what better they would have to make the whole game always online
