Is it just me?
Or is this game is just really poor version of Snow Runner. Controls are dumb down. Tasks are boring. Collecting materials!? Like what kinda of a company are you if you have to drive around and Collect scrap metal to finish a project. Just in general game feels like
It has moved backwards in development compared to master piece like Snow Runner

Roadcraft is superior to Snowrunner in many ways. Is fine if people like one more than the other but Roadcraft will only get better while Snowrunner hit its peak long time ago.

Dang these video games and their....video game mechanics!
This isn't snowrunner 2. Going in to the game with that mindset will bum you out. I have both and enjoy them both for what they are. They are built with the same engine but completely different games,

RC makes you think of a lot of different kind of problems than just winching through mud

Snowrunner is fantastic, but where RC is slimmer than SR in some area's, it massively makes up for in others.

Could also be the other way around! Snowrunner doesn't even have the ability to build roads and bridges where ever you want and remove trees and such! :steamsalty:

Cool story, bro. Enjoy Snowrunner.

I get where you're coming from. I think its very natural to compare a spinoff game to the originals. Yes, this game is simplified compared to Snowrunner. I have no doubt that was one of the main goals of this game. I love Snowrunner, but I can understand why others would prefer something more simple, or causal. The devs were likely taked with making the game have a more widespread appeal by making it more causal. Its not the choice I'd prefer, but I understand and except it.

I agree with you on that this game is a step backwards in many areas. As I already mentioned, some this was a design choice for the more causal players. However, I think another big issue was budget. I suspect, Saber/Focus got burned on Expeditions and they were far more cautious with this game. If this game does reasonable well, I expect we'll see some missing features added, and some much needed refinement of some of the gameplay/mechanics. As time goes on the causal players will washout, leaving only the more hardcore players. If the game is still profitable at that point, expect the devs to respond to the tastes of that playerbase. Honestly, this game has great potential, and I'd really like to see it make it to the more hardcore stage. That would probably be an amazing game.

Nah, this game won't ever cater to hardline Snowrunner fans. They'll add hardmode and some stuff like that, but it won't ever be Snowrunner with construction equipment. It's not a smart move financially, regardless of the playerbase.

What we are far more likely to see is an actual Snowrunner 2 with construction equipment sometime down the road.

I didn't mean it will become a hardcore Snowrunner playerbase. It will be a hardcore Roadcraft playerbase, that will primarily be made up of hardcore Snowrunner fans. As the game goes on, only the hardcore will be left, so of course the devs will cater to them, assuming this game ever makes it that far. Also, I agree with you, we'll likely see a Snowrunner 2 with construction added. The question is, will a Snowrunner 2 go causal like this one, or will it remain dedicated to more hardcore players?

No this game is called roadcraft - a different game. Go to the store page and you will see it is not snowrunner or snowrunner 2.

Having never played Snowrunner, I'm finding RoadCraft enjoyable. And it's like you haven't even listened to the in-game dialogue where they keep mentioning how the company is really kinda bad and you're the only employee dispatched to these regions with only a scout vehicle at the start and that's why you have to scavenge and get stuff from the locals.

Also, it just makes sense to source materials locally. You know how expensive it would be to ship pipes, beams, and concrete all the way across the ocean?

I hope that at least in the next update they fix the embarrassing way of BRAKING AND REVERSING, separating the two actions and adding a reverse gear to the gearbox.
Or at least the gearbox they had in the Snowrunner...
Add more simulation to the steering wheels and joysticks.

And your point? Reason I'm not playing RC cause of its painful slow progression and mechanics. Let's start with simple stuff like not being able to customize your equipment at all. No upgrades no repainting nothing. I'm not saying it should be copy paste of Snow Runner or anything but at the same time they are walking backwards in simple stuff like gear boxes or even just driving physics. Why is my dump truck drifting around corners while doing 5mph? Why is there no actual gear box aka like MudRunner or SnowRunner. I will play this game but after they fix some of the crap that's happening in it right now.
