Crafting your own road anywhere?
I know in some areas there are missions that let you make roads using the AI, but I cannot figure out if it's possible to make your own road anywhere as some of the point to point infrastructures are quite far and I ended up spending 4-6 hours just making one sand path... So if anyone knows how to make an automated road pathway where the dump truck will make the designed pathway please let me know. If not this is sorely needed lol

Miss that too.
You can dump sand most anywhere and dozer it, but its also stupid far to drive to get more sand, and of course no asphalt (tarmac)
Not a feature as of yet. If you are having trouble with automated routes I suggest using a leveler to push rocks and debris out of the way and then making short road sections to bypass the worst of the pits/issues. That or design your route to go around them. Paving an entire network of roads is more of a self-industry project. I'll probably do it at some point just because. But the greater majority of the dirt roads are just drivable with maybe a little clean-up. At least in the first 2 maps.

No issues automating a route, issue is maintaining the routes so I ended up spending 4-6 hours on one route why because I had to keep running back and forth in what can only be described as a boring truck-along. I feel like I layed out enough sand for the 500T achievement in one infrastructure. Cool game but unless we get some automation's for making roads I don't see it keeping anyone's attention for long.

Cant even be bothered "maintain" routes anymore. They freaking break every 5-10 minutes.

And the back and forth is more annoying so it makes sense as to not do it past what is required if required. All the reason to let us automatically make roads and pathways with AI

Go to the spot, lay sand, take your frontloader out there and smooth it out. Bring the asphalt paver to the spot (Preferably on the back of the vehicle.) and asphalt the area, rinse repeat with the roller and you won't have to manage the road anymore. You don't need automation to make a road, it's simply done that way to make objectives easier, but much like bridges you can put them nearly anywhere.

6 hours later you only did enough for one route, now you have a 100 more roads to complete congratulations you have just beaten Roadcraft :D

It doesn't take 6 hours to make a road though? Just use the vehicles properly and you'll be done in no time. The asphalt and roller are the ones people are probably just driving there, but if you put it on the back of the light equipment transport, you get there in no time.
in general, is this just not solo friendly?

I'm soloing it fine. Want to make the process stupid fast? They give you a forward base vehicle that acts as a fast travel point. Put it at the road, teleport there (This costs gas, gas comes from side objectives.) Want to do it proper? Use the vehicles to transport others if they aren't fast enough to get there on their own. I built a bridge in 20 minutes earlier, built a road in 30, it's not that bad.

Route, and yea took me back and forth between quarry, sand laying and paving to do a route just so the terrain wouldn't stop screwing with the route anytime it rained or I reloaded.
It's solo-able just fine. The issue I have is with laying the sand down and levelling it. When I go to pave and roller it, both of them get stuck on invisible ledges, and it's either not worth the hassle to finish it after flattening the sand, or there's no sand quarry in the area to make it easier to build it in the first place. Add to that if you fix a road "too early" and it comes up as a request later down the missions, and you'd have to "remake it" anyway. I only intend to do it now if I really have no other choice to route AI traffic or a more stable road into the place I'm trying to haul to.

The part that is vexing would be salvaging stuff. Yes, the Mule with the crane is needed, %100, but it's a tiny crane and a small bed.

Granted, I am a loot goblin, but I'm not about to start running a Semi and a crane relay race just for the sake of free stuff.

that sounds bad

To much work so little reward, with Snowrunner levels of slow. Makes this game quite slow, which is sad. Not even a challenge it's just mindless road making with no real reward to it. I am better off doing another run of Snowrunner as it's actually rewarding and fun for what your doing.

Pretty rewarding for me to see my efforts allowing my route to take hold and actually be secure for the 10+ runs they have to do for the max reward, but to each their own?
