Road craft - Crane control
I feel like retarded when controlling crane with mouse and keys. I would prefer only keys since vehicle is fixed with anchors anyway. Or at least option to remap crane operation controls to keys. Thank you.

Putting the rope length control in a completely separate submenu on controller all by itself hurt my brain so much. Just... why? there's unused buttons in the original submenu, but they HAD to have it be D-Pad so must stick it under RB instead.

Honestly though, keybind issues with devs, a lot of devs in tons of games has that bind to weird things issue. Ever see people complain they can't rebind something super normal to some weird obscure key and wonder why they would want to? Its those people also making games sometimes I think.

For instance here, easy to solve. The truck shouldn't drive while you're also operating the crane. There, now we can use the triggers for things. Science.

It was the same to me at first.

After some training (yes, training, not gaming) I think it's pretty well done.
The closest to a real life joystick with just a mouse. I like it more than keys because of slow motion control. I like realism.

Pretty sure the big issue is the lack of a "auto return to center", the mouse hand first needs to learn where center point is. It was to me at least.

That said, I'd buy two joysticks if the game would allow to control cranes that way. But to me the demo is way to much arcade, apart from the crane controls. :)

I agree. As soon as I hopped into the scrapyard crane, it all made sense. For M&K, keep the crane controls on the keyboard. Not only is it easier, but it leaves the mouse free for moving your camera, which is pretty important when moving objects with a crane. Hopefully this is an easy fix and the M&K controls are not stuck to adhering to the limitations of controllers (having less buttons).

This makes sense because camera was limited in Snowrunner and Mudrunner, even Spintires. :spintires_mud:
PC crane / cutter controls are awful. It should be keyboard based like cranes in Snowrunner. With mouse it is impossible to accurate cut trees I often break them while using crane.
At lest give some aim assist for mouse, or better change crane / cutter controls to keyboard.

If you release left click (the key you have to activate the arms) it reset the position to zero and you dont have to learn where the zero was.

You're absolutely right.

I just love to have the crane move on all three axis simultaneusly to land just right on the spot in one single, elegant big swoosh. :)

But yeah, I realized that the solution now disables the camera movement. Nevertheless, I think it's a good innovation: adjust camera, click, move crane, release, adjust camera, click, move crane, ...

Learning new things like this is good for neural plasticity.

Even with controller the controls are horrible AND to make matters worse they are not the same across all cranes -.-. I mean crane control is complex no doubt about that but in snowrunner it was kinda ok after a while but here the controls drive me mad. I dont know why this happens so often in games that working controls have to be messed up ^^. Please change the standard layout ...

You're actually quite right.
Use a gamepad and all your problems will disappear

Totally agree. The crane controls with the mouse are way to awkward.
