Linux Issues
Currently trying to play the demo on Fedora Linux through Proton, and it crashes out every time it tries to load into the map. Multiple re-tries have been unsuccessful. Running a 3900X and 6800XT for reference.

Just booping in the two cents that yeah same here. Steam deck just crashes out the game, PC (Garuda Linux) goes full black screen (most likely driver crash, as monitors go into standby) From what I heard both Proton and GE Proton fails to run it sadly.
Crashing out after loading map too, trying a couple different proton versions to see if i can find one that works. This is a good reason not to preorder, but its a terrible shame because Snowrunner is a super smooth experience with a platinum rating on proton db (even without forced proton layers) . Hopefully there's a fix incoming from the devs...
try a swap file size that matches your system ram, assuming you have 16GB or more.

Proton is awesome but I'm surprised this game doesn't run native. Most newer games these days are starting to realize linux is a growing gaming community. Hell I'm about ready to fully dump windows for my entire family now.
My experience:
Manjaro KDE, Proton experimental (no other settings or tweaks at all)
RTX 3080Ti 16GB
64GB ram
SSD

I changed the graphics to High preset.
Everything runs perfectly, including multiplayer with friend on windows.
We ran through the whole demo in one sitting, taking about an hour and a half.
Fps was between 37~48 the whole time.
Felt smooth whipping the camera around (likely because of DLSS.

But yea.... I would agree with anyone saying the game needs massive optimization.
I would've expected 100-120fps.... without DLSS...

Linux Mint with AMD 7900XTX crashes as well

CachyOS crashed too

Tested on Ptoron-Experemental and Proton-9.04

RX7900XTX
Ryzen 5700X
32gb DDR4
M.2 NVMe 1TB

According to observations, the game has poor AMD card support at the moment (Windows has poor performance, Linux crashes)
