Believe me, you'll forget about this 'very' dead game very soon.
Can't do that with rimworld as its not about Eldritch horror or anything like that. It is more about Being A evil megalomaniac running a company that freely kills their employees and turns them into bio weapons.
As for why the Franchise fee is unrealistically more demanding, there are several reasons I have headcanon for, but its probably because our medicine turns people into zombies (shhhh its secret in case you haven't noticed) and illegal black market operations encourage big cash grabs and escape. If you were a property owner, you would probably be pissed if you were liable for all that, hence why all these rooms and building come pre built with a self destruction mechanism and evacuation protocol. This allows Worky's "3rd Party Affiliate" as a franchise to distance itself from the Endswells brands well known shenanigans while raking in a ton of cash with automated drone construction and rentals, and keeping this madness going.
This game feels almost too subtle and genius for it to be struggling this bad. It is a buggy game, but eh so is helldivers, so a few crashes wont stop me. Its when the characters and rooms get bugged and I have to restart in a new game that bothers me most.
Some stuff like perk points are in game achievements while others are extraction based. I think others are in-game, like selling 3 different kinds of bioweapons in one week. I use the drone assembly perk, black market order cancellation policy, and sometimes the sewer map plans and sometimes the biomass collection protocol. Sometimes its better to re-roll an easier map with more rooms or closer coffee shops/bus sleeping quarters etc. Take more time surveying the map to see if its even worth investing in, some world generations are honestly more challenging than others even within the same game mode. Don't forget to pause the time flow to look around and micromanage more. Beating the first map is usually easy enough, but you don't want to make too many mistakes with placement and rush to buy things you aren't immediately using until time. Some perk/perk points are going to basically demand you mess up intentionally if you want them fast like make and kill 10 zombies and fight the cops, others will be easier like making 100 treatments, and the hardest objectives basically demand you play perfectly and extract after 3 franchise payments with a certain amount of money. Don't get too disillusioned, it is legitimately just hard game at first sometimes that encourages trial by error, just keep going and try the new levels so you can unlock all the easier stuff to help you with the harder stuff. And don't forget to harvest biomass and don't be too worried about suspicion besides police suspicion. Remember to use the Investigator Operation once you unlock him to control whether you get raided. I had to play this game straight day and night for a whole 90 hours before I "got" it, and that was only because I was too focused on being "good" that I didn't keep experimenting and observe interactions enough until I understood the broad scope.
And this isn't even talking about the bugs. Like dam so many bugs. and worst bit is, their is actual no real progression. As ya once you get passed building drugs/weapons/bio weapons. That is it, their is no new content.
You don't get to design your own plague.. You don't get to go all Albert wesker and try to make a super human race. It is just a rouge like with no actual pay out. only thing you unlock is generic new maps.
But hey if you like doing the same thing over and over. go right ahead, to me this is just boring. after i built my first bio weapon and Lost another game to an invincible zombie. I just realize its not worth exploring any further.
