man...a story about 3 fake little spoiled brats being around other spoiled brats during the pandemic and their sad pathetic story about it? idk...i cant relate, this is a weird game.

Let’s be direct about this. I’m not a fan of visual novels for involving too much reading and not enough gameplay or visual depiction. I’m not the target audience for this niche (gen z, queer, Italian etc). I’m not into explicit sexuality and strong LGBT tones. This game doesn’t hold back aside from showing you the D in full glory. I’m not into art deeply. A lot of symbolism is gibberish to me aside from basic ones. I still got intrigued and ended up enjoying the game, way more than expected!

The art style along with the music are the stars of the show. Both worked hand in hand to ensure enough action between all the reading, at least when it comes to visual novels. The game also has some gameplay in the form of taking many decisions that drastically change the story and what you experience. There is a bit of currency management and finding minor collectibles for the achievements. It’s not possible to get everything on your first run but you can keep the progress you’ve made in a new run and then focus on the content you didn’t experience before. So it feels fresh and exciting enough. You can even get all the achievements in around 1.5 run but I still fully completed the second run to see a new ending and it was worth it. The characters are unlikeable for the most part but their emotions are raw and it turns into a horror story by the end. My attention was grabbed and I was interested in seeing what would happen next. The achievements are fun to figure out and they’re not challenging as long as you read the descriptions of the achievements often and pay attention.

The game has 3 flaws for the most part: the save system, no skip and two characters look too similar. Saving is a bit of a mess. You can save at any time but it doesn’t save where you were exactly. It saves after starting a new ‘chapter’. So you have to commit to a full chapter if you don’t want to repeat things. I kept making new saves thinking I had more control but at least I was relieved to find out your progress with the collectibles is kept after completing the game the first time. And a full chapter is not long btw. The game has no real skipping option but there are some other means. A new run skips the early part and goes straight to where the action begins. You can also increase the dialogue speed. I’m glad about those options but I would have still liked skipping or a quicker way to experience what I missed. Think of chapter select or a timeline chart where you pick a specific scene like with some of the visual novels I’ve tried. Two of the three characters (Claudio and Andrea) look too similar in terms of design. I kept mixing the two for a long time. Oh, and there is some typo here and there.

This is the kind of game I wouldn’t have given a chance if it wasn’t for Humble Choice’s May bundle. It’s a special game with no real comparison to anything else I played. I’m glad to have spent less than 5 hours to play it. But this kind of game is VERY personal to the individual and you need to be really tolerant of certain themes. It’s not a game for everyone. At least I can say it’s technically sound and it succeeds at what it’s trying to do. It’s up to you whether you want to give a game like this a try.
