If you worry about quality, you slap that random maps might not be of a quality. Believe me every player prefer to have any random map generator that will generate so so quality vs hand crafted maps.
If you will really add complete random maps, please pay attention to enough ressources
In the one random map with the start of the small island it's not good balanced imho
You can easy take the 2 islands below and 2 east of you without beeing hated by everyone if you know how to do (i will not say it, it could be a spoiler).
You've one island with sugar, cotton and chicken +50%
One has coal and wild boar.
I'll not say it's bad, but it looks a little bit unbalanced when you need one island only for farms and the space for the people
Probably it would be better to patch it that goods will delivered to the warehouse also and not only to buildings with the production chain if they're in range before you add maps, because of crossbuilding it will be a bigger problem with bigger cities (you'll need 30 houses on one island and 300 on the other one for the chains)
If you meant only to boost some of the traits and not make all islands the same I agree.
We could also use some ways to boost the final goods producers for the needs/wants.
it's just that the goods needs more balanced, will show you below what i mean:
It's free game:

This Island will probably have only farms, there are 3 very important goods wich need farms.
Farms need a lot of space and a huge amount of people
So I need a really, really big space for people, but that's midgame.
I do not have the highest workers and not really the 2nd highest,
How will the Island look when I've 30k people?
The space is not enough because you have to split the space in 3 kinds of farms

What should I do with this island?
Build meanwhile 11 wild boar hunters everywhere, because there isn't an other bonus.
Coal isn't important, it needs not really space, because you're lack on iron.
Probably I can build 30 there, nothing else.

What to build here?
One Iron mine and... then?
Used it for cotton, could build 60 cotton farms but for what?
The Island is really big, I could plant everything there.
Oh wait, hemp and potato aren't good and aloe vera isn'r really needed.
So, I've space for... ?
No wild boar, no sugar, and hemp and potato is half production.
Use the Island for the production chains, mean, build a lot for final products there.
This island would definitively need another +50% boost for something or remove the -50% for potato or hemp to balance it more.

Hemp AND wild boar looks imho useless on this island, because it's too small for both
Used it for main productions of clay, iron and steel, because it need a lot of space and lot of people
And also because of the reason to avoid production chains on ONE island, till they will update it that depots will bring ressources to the global store and not only to the production building next to the farm
Let's wait for the roadmap which was supposed to get out last week if I remember correctly, now its for this week apparently, we should also get a patch also at the same time, one would hope with some balancing.
Great to hear; this is the main thing I can see keeping this from long-term replayability on my game shelf. I'll toss my vote for procedural generation, too.
