Thanks for the info, i have been playing it on switch i was originally gong to double dip and buy it on Steam but i might wait for a sale, it is a pretty bland experience so far, i love that we are getting more Macross but for a shooter it is very generic, most stages look the same, the enemies and bosses are small and very easy. it is hard for me to recommend when we have games like Devil Engine, Radiant Silvergun and others here on Steam

Can you actually freely transform with a button, or it's completely on rails and you have no control over it?

Its well optimized no frame rate issue's.m It plays perfectly fine and the controls are smooth. The only thing is it is very generic, repetitive and it is completely on rails. You do a short side scrolling stage as the valkyrie, then transform to battroid to do a short over head 360 degree stage where you destroy a few generator enemies and then transform back to jet for a overhead stage and fight a boss. Every stage is pretty much similar with the section being swapped around in different order. Almost all the backgrounds and enemy types have been very similar and slightly uninspiring, bosses are mostly small and fairly easy. i am still playing through the game, I am up to stage 7 or 8 so I have not seen the full game, but i will probably wait for it to go on sale on Steam

How is the DYRL content? Considering buying the Switch version just for that.

it does have multiple difficulties and the DYRL stuff is limited you have the ship, character portraits during the cut scene's, and DYRL song OST. However i am not sure if the one stage where you fight classic macross enemies is dlc or not usually dlc stages are very seperate from the main game but the stage is practically a few stages in and seems like a normal default level

How many DYRL songs does it have? Is there more than one??

You could lower the in game music and add your own track through OBS or whatever app you're using. I know it sucks. One way around it ;)
