Reboot Key
Just wondering what people think of it, I personally see almost no reason to take it, unless maybe the game gives you alot of high rarity relics and spells but no game plan?

if youre trying for a "perfect" run; then you'd want to use the reboot key on the first area; but make sure to try and take as many relic options as possible (including getting a red portal / rare room from the boss at the end of the act). you'd want to take all three relic options there too (so take they key last assuming you get it at that point).

the key restarts everything but you keep everything you have. assuming you have say 5 relics; you now get to progress the first area again; continuing to take relics.

ideally you can get a few more relics than you otherwise would normally; and thats about the only good use of the key ive found.

can also be helpful if youre doing a 'save 1000 gold coins' run; because it allows for a double chance at more relic options or gold rooms.

ultimately though its not needed; as lots of over powered combos exist (like Area (4 slot one) + Prism Core or Hammer etc))

coins do not reset. max hearts do not reset. quantity of spells do not reset. you can stock pile money, reroll, and combine more spells than you otherwise would to get the ultimate build. since you are rerunning an area again, you are going to get overall more items.

Yeah, I easily think the reboot key is the single best option early game, if you can manage to find it.

Woof. Just ran into one of these for the first time and got a nasty bug -- you restart at the beginning with no wands or spells whatsoever so you can't even attack the first two enemies in the starting area. RIP.

[EDIT] Just happened again -- def seems bugged right now (for me at least), avoiding in the future.

It can be found in the scarlet room of every end of chapter boss, but you'll have far less time to complete a cohesive build the longer you wait to take it. It can be some fun chaos to take it late though.

It did get bugged as of the patch released a few hours ago.

My theory. The reboot key is bugged if you have any curses.
With 0 curses, the key works as it should.

I've used it with curses plenty of times in the past with no issues.

The bug didn't exist in times past. It was only around for a single patch over the span of a day.

There's too much risk to use it early and rolling into no attack spells. There's too much risk to use it late and not having enough of a build to progress. The only use I've found for it is when you accidentally take the magician robe (the long reach wand one) which can be nigh impossible to use on controller and you need to try to save the run and roll out of it.

I personally feel grabbing the key should just start the area from the beginning with Nothing else re-rolled (maybe it could simply wipe your gold and/or keys). You already have to perfect the boss and give up permanent health (while also assuming there's at least 1 other item you'll most likely want to spend health on, given the small amount of rewards in the game rn) so I see no reason to have another downside (or at least way bigger chance) attached to it. And Yes, I know HP isn't hard to get back, or there's ways to remove rng (spoiler free for newer players) but potentially Destroying My Entire Run just to restart ONE certain area isn't worth it to me (except for like others said, it's the First/Second area).

Absolutely love the Reboot Key for act 1, ensures that the run is something different every time, and that I don't rely on favorite strategies that might make the game boring. 🗝️
Can you get the Reboot Key for an area more than once in a run? Go thru the first area three times? Or ten, if get really lucky?
it would be really useful if it did not replace the current gear, you could get a power up from doing the stage again
