Personally I think the auto-wand set is superior to the poison set. Poison doesn't mitigate immediate damage. It's a build up of DPS. The best builds are those that mitigate damage against your own character. If you never take damage you'll never lose.
Overall I find the game a bit boring, but for other reasons. It just gets boring to grind the same map progression every single run.
Its not supposed to be balanced.
True thats another thing the barrier is auto win atleast when you combine it with the mana regeneration leaf.
Ofcourse its supposed to be balanced and especialy when youre talking about starting loadout options they should atleast be somewhat balanced against each other.
You clearly need to try more builds.

Melee caster meets your primary value in spades but it meets my own even more so, mana economy is a major asset throughout the majority of the play through. Regardless of what rolls you get along the way this class will make up for it.
