First Bings set it insane and doesn't need any upgrades (though upgrading it does let you use it more often, there is only 1 upgrade total...so it's super cheap).
But slam does more damage than just about any other spell with the exception of some insane combos (like star + twin + 100% crit). Bing's slam does 50% to all normal enemies and resets if you kill anything in the process. Combo that with the spell that hits everything on the screen and you can just jump from enemy to enemy instantly killing them.
That isn't it's most powerful feature though it ALSO does 10% of a bosses health each time. You can upgrade it with relics that boost AoE and reduce cooldown time. This lets you kill many of the bosses in a minute or two max, even the final doggo goes down before you lose max health even without using lightning dash (which you can still slam while invulnerable).
Bing is by far the character that needs to be downgraded the most.
Melee mage is actually the SECOND strongest character and can kill things faster than bing even by end game. Again you can reduce cooldown (to under 1 second) with relics. You don't need the AoE (for that ability) upgrades like bing, but depending on the ability you are using itmight help. You can use ANY ability, even the whole screen hitting one, or upgrade your evil sword to hit the whole screen 12 times doing 500k each hit, and then spam the space button to constantly use it without worrying about mana at all.
It can be used for tons of different abilities, and it allows you to spam anything you have gotten over 1 mill damage non-stop. That is by far the fastest way to kill bosses. Bing takes like 90 seconds to but slam them enough even with cooldown reduction. You can literally obliterate the bosses (Even doggo) in 10 seconds with melee mage.
Swirfcaster wand dude with all the wands seems great but.....i'm guessing you already have.....you get 4 base wands eventually. The truth of the matter is that you only really need 2 auto-cast wands at most, and 1-2 manual wands. I do like to have one wand dedicated totally to magic shield......while makes you invulnerable, and by having extra wands you can have the wand that lets you use it's mana/regen for any other wand, a wand that boosts regen for all wands by 8 and a wand that boosts AoE as well, and still have tons.
That being said, not being able to have ANY wand without auto on it, removes alot of control. I liked it early-mid game play, but as I got more experienced, you just lose too much for the extra wands, and you want to focus on 1-4 wands way more, maxing out the powers on them instead of spreading across so many wands.
Bi'an's set with the swords could use a massive upgrade in my opinion, it just doesn't add much the way it currently is. Reaper/poison is good the way it is, you can make very strong poison builds with it...and that is it. I do think they should have done the base set a bit different. Start with 3 base bullets, then increase one by a level each time you upgrade, until all are level 3. Having 3 level 3 normal spells to re-roll from start would be useful, and that would take 6 upgrades (50/100/150/200/250/300). Would make far more sense and actually be useful.
I've said before that summoner should NOT be ember heart....has nothing to do with summoning and you can get it naturally. If you max it, you can get a very high Ember heart base damage, but even so it's worthless in stage 4-5 anyway. It does make the first 3 stages cake, but they are cake anyway. Instead I think summoner should start with 2x summons automatically and start with Cthulu (normal) as their first spell. Upgrading it will cost significantly more than most other but each increases cthulu starting level. So level 1-2 costs 200 and level 2-3 costs 500. Starting off with a level 3 cthulu though would be pretty insantly powerful especially since you can have 2 of them right from the start!!
Now that might be the most powerful combo if they did make that change hehe.
