Spell Lock (Tentagirl NPC)
So, I just finished hardmode and unlocked the lock-a-spell feature a while ago, but I still cannot figure out the purpose of it. If I click the lock icon under the spell, it puts chains around it. Is the purpose to 'lock' the spell so it can always roll of the 3 choices?

If so, if I am aiming towards collecting *that exact spell* then why on earth would I sacrifice 1 of my 2 selections to save it for the next 'spell room'?

It's not my first rodeo, but damn if this is the first non-intuitive feature I've come across.

Any clarification would be appreciated, thanks!

I've honestly never used it either. But I think the purpose is: When you get offered three (or more) options you like, you can pick two and then lock the other one so you get it next time

Because (particularly later in the game ) if you have several +1 spell reward artifacts and you fight a boss every card you are offered will be lvl 2 upgrade and several of them will be rare cards.

If you have card picks 6 picks and you take 2 cards and hold the rest you are getting 18 card picks (plus extra value for every rare you hold) because they are already upgraded… much easier to re-roll them or combine 3x lvl 2 into a max level card.

On regular card rewards sometimes it’s prudent to hold 1 copy if you already have 2x in hand so you are guaranteed the upgrade at a future fabricator.

Those cards will stay locked until you pick them and then they go back to regular card picks… honestly it’s the most powerful and flexible tool in the dungeon because at the end of the day you don’t have to use it anymore it’s free…

Right. That's entirely true. I completely didn't think of it.

Thank you both, I think I see the value in it now!
