If you have card picks 6 picks and you take 2 cards and hold the rest you are getting 18 card picks (plus extra value for every rare you hold) because they are already upgraded… much easier to re-roll them or combine 3x lvl 2 into a max level card.
On regular card rewards sometimes it’s prudent to hold 1 copy if you already have 2x in hand so you are guaranteed the upgrade at a future fabricator.
Those cards will stay locked until you pick them and then they go back to regular card picks… honestly it’s the most powerful and flexible tool in the dungeon because at the end of the day you don’t have to use it anymore it’s free…
