Giant Troll Unlock?

I got the Giant Troll spell unlock, but never seen it in game. How do I get this spell?

Its an epic spell. I always get it from getting a different epic spell and transforming it into them

I've gotten it from spell rewards and reforging other reforgeable epic spells. I don't think I've gotten it from the pit but if i did, it's been a while

Higher difficulty level has a better chance of getting epic spells. Nightmare 3 gets them fairly often. You can improve your chance of getting any 1 epic spell by preventing the other onces from being found. That doesn't mean you won't find them in wands though, and if you only have say troll + arcane shield available as epic spells, you will roll into one of them every time.

There are like 3-4 wands that have an epic spell already in them when you buy them. Add in the fairly decent chance of getting an epic spell randomly on nightmare 3 and I pretty much always get a few spell upgrade ones (that is the one that boosts the level of the spells on both sides of it).

I personally ditched the troll because the other epic spells are better (spell upgrade/arcane shield) and because if I even bother with it Cthulu (or 2-6 cthulu) are stronger/better at killing than trolls.

2 trolls kinda suck as 1 troll will eat the other troll for ammo lol. Meanwhile you can stack the upgrade summon passive on your cthulu to get even more attacks. Add in fire core, and troll blood + the attack speed maggot and your cthulu will destroy everything...without requiring any resources etc (and less worry about him falling in holes).

If you get the combine passive (Which I also block) you can combine two trolls into 1, but that requires double summons (which honestly are not really worth it even for cthulu). Troll can do insane damage mind you and is a way to kill bosses fast, just set up auto-cast on cthulu + tons of max health boosts....nothing else matters on him. Don't need double summon at all etc. Troll will keep firing your cthulu and destroying everything in the process....but......it's not as good at lots of small enemies for sure.

Anyway you can get trolls easily and fast in nightmare 3, so if you are not there yet, it's something to look forward to.
