Chaos core?

What's this even do? I can't see where it went after beating the story once.

You trade them to the tentacle girl for packs of spell unlocks. Once you beat the game and go back to base camp, you will see the big chaos core and the tentacle girl will come out of it. Then she opens a shop to buy spell packs that you pay for with chaos cores.. Also, in 1.0, they added a "trading post" where you can trade resources for other resources.
