Just starting and already frustrated
I am playing through the game and just passed through the bridge/first town. I went back to explore the lower area with the shoreline and shipwrecks when I noticed what looks like a cave up on the side of the mountain beside me. I went up the mountain following a trail and got up above where the cave was and attempted to jump down. I am able to get partway down the cliff and on a ledge but walking around on the ledge kills me, so I several thousand memoria. Literally walking forward kills me...I went back to recover my memoria but am unable to get back up the mountain from there as traveling in any direction results in death...It's basically just an invisible out of bounds death mechanic that is punishing exploration. Really stupid and lazy game design. Either restrict the player from going down, or cause death that leaves your memoria in a recoverable position. The fact that a portion of the terrain is safe and another results in instant death with no indication is extremely dumb.

Almost EVERY 3D game is based on stable and an unstable ground, with a kill-trigger if you touch the out-of-bounds death plane ( or more often, death sphere as we're in 3D )

That's how games are made and that's the solution the studios came up with to not let us run out of bounds and break their games or fall through the world forever...

Sometimes, Elden Ring is a nice example for that, this mechanic can be warped and used for your own good even, and sometimes in some games the kill-trigger triggers one metre to soon to be completely realistic.

Remember the alternative - putting a sign there saying 'out of bounds, our game ends here' - which would be much, much worse for immersion.
