Players can now choose a difficulty level while starting a new game, you can choose between the Soulslike experience and a Story mode - the story mode is a bit easier than the original difficulty of the game. It only affects your first playthrough, as with NG+ and above the difficulty level is the same for both modes. Players who already started a run in Enotria will be playing at “Story” mode difficulty.
I even went ahead and got to the purple lumberjack up on the hill on the right side after the tutorial and he was an absolute joke in "story mode" That definitely wasn't the case in either of my playthroughs on launch week.
Btw I think I also figured out how to change the difficulty by editing the save file but it needs some testing. Who knows the devs might implement a toggle soon.
Oh that sucks. The difficulty has felt pretty good to me so far pre-patch. Guess I'll just go do some mask shard farming until the toggle is implemented.
I saw this post
but shouldnt the save say Soulslike then ?
