How do you change difficulty?
When I started playing Enotria, all there was is "new game" and that's what I went with for both my save files. Due to not having key customization I took a break, and now upon coming back all my save files are set to "story mode" and there's an option for a "soulslike" mode in the main menu but it creates a new char.

Is there a way to change my save files to "soulslike" mode? Or am I condemned to experience journalist difficulty because I was dumb enough to buy the game before the plethora of patches the devs need to dish out for the game to be even close of being worth its price?

Same for me. I'm almost at the end of the second area. I don't want to start over and I don't want to play in story mode and now what do I do?

Would need dev confirmation but the roadmap says "option to start from a higher difficulty" so I'm interpreting that as "Story Mode" is the original intended difficulty and "soulslike" mode is a higher difficulty.

Patch Notes

Players can now choose a difficulty level while starting a new game, you can choose between the Soulslike experience and a Story mode - the story mode is a bit easier than the original difficulty of the game. It only affects your first playthrough, as with NG+ and above the difficulty level is the same for both modes. Players who already started a run in Enotria will be playing at “Story” mode difficulty.

They just announced on discord that they are working on implementing a difficulty toggle. Not sure how long this will take.

Thank you for the info

Well I have footage from before this difficulty separation came into play, and it most closely resembles the one present in the "soulslike" mode.
I even went ahead and got to the purple lumberjack up on the hill on the right side after the tutorial and he was an absolute joke in "story mode" That definitely wasn't the case in either of my playthroughs on launch week.

Original difficulty was definitely the souls-like difficulty. Story mode is a joke. Every boss dies in 10 seconds. If you are already on a playthrough and don't want to steamroll through everything then wait for the toggle feature.

Btw I think I also figured out how to change the difficulty by editing the save file but it needs some testing. Who knows the devs might implement a toggle soon.

Oh that sucks. The difficulty has felt pretty good to me so far pre-patch. Guess I'll just go do some mask shard farming until the toggle is implemented.

Hey, I'm sorry for the issues - we will be adding the difficulty selector this week so everyone will be able to choose between story/soulslike mode, not only the new players

So will it be possible: when the boss is too dificult, I can switch from soulslike to storymode, beat the boss and switch back to soulslike?

Yes, you can switch between modes at any time from the in-game options menu, as long as you aren't already on an NG+ cycle.
