Game wont start at all.

I've tried the compatibility setting but nothing changed. Game just Opens the small window with red text, reads the WDL, then disappears. I can see in my task manager that acknex is still running with Very High power usage, so something is apparently happening.

Hi, it looks like your system is blocking the acknex.exe and can't open the game engine itself - could be a texture problem. And does your graphic card and monitor support 640px X 480px? A few AMD Ryzen models do not have a GPU scaling mode for that resolution.

Is it possible to force windowed mode? I tried doing that with a shortcut but i couldnt get it to work. Thats the best bet i got as its fixed a few other games

There is a way to switch to windowed mode by pressing Alt+Enter, but I assume the engine must already be running for that.

I have the same issue as OP, it loads acknex.exe and completely disappears after putting your mouse cursor in the center of the screen. Can't access it through alt+tab, alt+enter or system tray, you can only see it from task manager. Is it really because I'm using AMD Ryzen card?

yeeeeah it might. I used to have a GTX 1060 super, which had that problem. Your comment reminded me to try and play it with my new RTX 2060 super and it worked.

Game doesn't work

When i run the game it shows a screen with red text, on steam it shows that im playing but it wont open. I re-installed,i checked the system requirements and i can run it no problems and i verified the integrity of game files, it still doesn't work.
Please help

Hey i just wanted to play this fantastic game but my pc dont let me, i tried the compatibility method but it refuses to start later the load screen, and sometimes it appears WDL script problem.
Any help would be awesome. I have windows 10 with Nvidia RTX card graphic so idk if some problems are because of that...

You can try to disable the Steam Overlay for the game: screenshot

An old version of Microsoft Visual C++ on your system could be the problem.
Uninstalling them all to reinstall the newest one can be useful...

Furthermore it's possible to force in the compatibility mode a 640 X 480 resolution,
256 colors, toggling the fullscreen mode and to run as an administrator.

There's a emulating tool called "3D-Analyze" that is a solution for many games with compatibility problems...

And if that doesn't work either, here is the complete troubleshooting guide that will hopefully fix the problem.

I'm having the same problem. If I turn on "disable fullscreen optimizations" in the compatibility properties, the game can only be found running in the task manager. If I turn off "disable fullscreen optimizations" the game just crashes immediately. This is the compatibility setting that I've found to make this difference, every other setting doesn't seem to make any difference (in terms of making the game work).

I'm using a GTX 1080 Ti graphics card, since the topic of graphics cards came up earlier in the thread.

Whenever I start the game through steam the game opens with a box with red text and then plays the intro cutscene. But when that cutscene ends, the game crashes. When I look through the task manager, I see nothing that could be related to Funny Pizza Land, including not finding the "acknex" mentioned before. One weird thing about it is that when I try to play the game through the "start.exe" itself, it shows an error "Problem with WDL script" with the header of it being "Fatal engine error E356". I tried everything mentioned above, nothing worked. Please help!

Game ain’t working

So I really want to play this game, but everytime I try to play it on my mini pc, it just plays the first cutscene and then just crashes, can someone help me with this?

I'm sorry to hear that.

The game was also tested on the following Mini PC system without any problems:

Dell Optiplex 7060
Windows 11 Pro 64 bit
Intel Core i7-8700
16 GB RAM
Intel UHD Graphics 630

Some modern GPUs are unable to open early 2000 applications.
Textures in FPL have the bmp format, which today technically makes no sense since it has no transparency.
The default properties of modern GPU drivers often have Anti-Aliasing enabled and this could be the issue too...

I tried 3D Analyze as well. Still nothing.
