LEGO® Batman™: The Videogame

Lego Batman vs. Lego Batman 2
Both at 75% off and i'm wondering if i'll buy one of them.
First, is that a game aiming for kids or adults enjoyed them too?
How many hours of gameplay?

I heard Lego Batman 2 is the only open world Lego title, that's true?

Well, feel free to talk about these games and help me to decide.
Thanks!

Anyone can enjoy the Lego games, just dont take everything seriously and they can be a casual enjoyable thing.

You could easily get about 20-30 hours of each game if you go mad on collecting things, however the story in each game is about 8 hours. Though the first game does sort of play like you're replaying certain levels in the villian campaign.

Lego Batman 2 is not the only open world game, Lego LOTR and Lego City Undercover are also open world but City is only on Wii U.

If you have to pick one game, I would go with Lego Batman 2 as it's a much better experience in both story and gameplay. I mean Lego Batman 2 has freaking Superman (and a side note, if you fly in Gotham as Superman it plays the Superman theme) and most of the justice league.

I get a demo to try.
Is it controls that bad or is this some issue?

No mouse, J and H keys, and i cannot select highlighted areas on batarang mode, because i don't a have a clue on how to do that.

Seems to be a bad port (actually even a port really) to PC.
Hope that's not, cause the look and feel are really good.

Ok, i'm starting to get the controls, playing Batman 2 demo.
It is very bad port, it isn't? But funny anyway.

I think i'll buy just the second... i'm enjoying the suit changes and stuff. lol

It's not a bad port, it's just the control system doesnt suit keyboard very well and unfortunately the mouse is not used at all which seems a bit silly as it could have been great if they added in mouse support for targetting.

You can rebind your keys though if they are giving you issues, just go into the options and fix them there.

And yes I would advise getting the second as it's the better game.

Does this work with hamachi? For online co-op?

Actually the default keys are ok.
I was having problems when trying to use the mouse and use the keys. lol
When using mouse on another games, we use the ones closer to wasd, but in this case the right hand is free.
this game is very good & i have had no problems, it works great with the PC wired xbox 360 controller & with 75% off it's a bargain...

Yeah, i like a lot the demo, so i bought it.
But i don't have an XBox controller, and i'm not supposed to have one to play a game on PC. A little more work on PC version like mouse support (that's basic) will make it perfect. :)
i don't understand when they sell a game like this that they don't make it more user friendly for the keyboard & mouse, i think when the do a port that they hope for the best that it works, how hard can it be to make it more playable for PC users, and you carn't use the mouse to control the batarang how stupid is that, do they ever check the controls when they do a port...
Eric:

This is Indy. As much as both are fun to play, I'd take Bats 2 over Bats 1 for the simple reason that characters can now TALK!! The kids have been waiting for years for this to happen. Personally, I'm glad it did. If you do decide on buying Bats 2, please tell where Robin's helicopter is in Level 2. I've been looking for that thing for ages!!!

Happy gaming!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.
i think its next to a casino right next to the waters edge
why is the first better no- 2 is free roaming
The first is better, character wise-- seeing as how there's more variety, while with the Lego Batman 2, you feel as if there's very little variety. And that can make it extremely boring, and plus, you get villains on Lego Batman 1 who are more interesting with better traits and actions.
In my opinion of course.

They're both relatively even as far as character variety is concerned. Since they opted for full voiceover in the second game, as a player you can spot where things feel lazy when certain characters have a grand total of one or two words to say (if even that) and it's hard not to feel disappointed over it, even slightly (The Flash, a prime choice for showcasing the addition of voices, not getting due treatment in this game is a true travesty).

I think both games are above average LEGO titles (and worth a buy if you're either a Batman/DC fan or a LEGO game fan in general). What few flaws the first game had were either improved upon or drowned out by the sheer collect-o-mania that exploded in the second (I haven't played the Wii U LEGO title, but I believe LEGO Batman 2 had the highest red brick count out of all LEGO games that preceded it). Assuming they're working on a third game for this series, I hope it utilizes the better parts of the first two games and offers up something a bit fresher than just cramming dozens of things to collect and unlock down the player's throat to get more replay hours out of the game.
lego batman 2 suckksss
